Last month, the IBA hosted the second-ever Hoosier Excellence Awards in Indianapolis, celebrating the phenomenal work constructed by Indiana Builders Association Members from this past year! These Awards seek to elevate the best projects of the year, stretching the delineations across nineteen distinct categories curated by the IBA Committee in an effort to acknowledge the wide range of these builders, and to showcase expert craftsmanship in different areas of the building and remodeling industry!
All projects featured, whether a new build or remodel, were constructed by current IBA Members in Indiana. With over 100 submissions, the task of determining who would take home the respective awards was no small thing. Each submission was carefully considered and judged by an independent panel of building industry professionals, none of whom live or operate in Indiana. Every submission was evaluated based on the merits of aesthetic cohesion and charm, overall craftsmanship, implementation of special or unique design choices, use of appropriate building materials, navigation of budgetary considerations, as well as any challenges or obstacles the builder was tasked with overcoming for completion of the project.
We are very proud to say that two Members of the Builders Association of North Central Indiana were honored with Hoosier Excellence Awards! Congratulations to Milestone Construction and Granite Ridge Builders for their superb efforts this year, and the work they put into their respective submissions of Outdoor Living and Best Home.
Milestone Construction was a finalist for the Outdoor Living category with the Carriage House – a project which features several custom-designed aspects, including a Gas Fire Wall, which curves elegantly around the lakeside edge of the patio platform. This serves to separate the waters of the pool and the lake in a striking, fiery division. The overall aesthetic is made more cohesive with the Gas Tiki Torches lining the descent towards the lake. The real marvel, however, is the unique and intriguing glass dance floor built above the pool to offer a truly unmatched experience at parties! This avant garde build, coupled with a very pleasant and dynamic atmosphere, brought this build to the attention of the judges, and Milestone Construction earned the award for the category of Outdoor Living.
Granite Ridge Builders was also honored with an award, this time in the category of Best Home (in the $700,000 – $1,000,000 range). Their CR 300 S project features a rustic-style home utilizing mixed materials, including intricately-carven stonework and wooden installations. The master bedroom has been accentuated with a box ceiling and three windows to both allow for natural lighting within, as well as to frame the lovely pond visible from the room. The white and stone aesthetic of the home is elegantly accented by the wooden elements peppered throughout to provide cohesion between different rooms. The main focus of the home, which brought all the design features together in the heart of the residence, was the custom wood three-seasons room outfitted with a floor-to-ceiling fireplace blocked in gorgeous stone, and windows throughout to offer the optimal natural lighting experience.
