Building Hope, One Wall at a Time

We’re proud to recognize two outstanding members of BANCI: Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County and Lake City Bank, who teamed up to bring hope to a local family of six in Mentone.

On Friday, June 13, the downtown Warsaw parking lot of Lake City Bank transformed into a construction site — but this wasn’t just any project. More than 50 Lake City Bank employees rolled up their sleeves to help build the full frame of a Habitat home, panel by panel, right outside their office.

This remarkable “panel build” was led by Habitat’s experienced team, who prepped and pre-cut the lumber and provided the tools and guidance. In just four hours, two shifts of Lake City Bank volunteers assembled over 40 sections of the future home. It’s the largest house Habitat has taken on in recent years, and it’s being built for a deserving local family.

Before the panels were shipped to the build site in Mentone, volunteers wrote messages of encouragement, blessings, and prayers directly on the home’s frame — turning lumber into a labor of love.

“I think it’s neat how the homeowner gets to see it before it goes on the property,” shared Athena Stenstrom of Lake City Bank.

This effort reflects the very heart of BANCI — people and businesses coming together to make our communities stronger. Special thanks to Lake City Bank for your enthusiastic support and to Habitat for Humanity for leading the way in affordable housing and community transformation.
