On November 20th, 2024, a couple of our Members were honored as finalists and categorical winners at the IBA’s Hoosier Excellence Award, an event that seeks to elevate the efforts and skills of IBA Members who live and operate in Indiana. This event is in its second year, and we at BANCI are very excited to celebrate Milestone Construction, who earned highest placement in the Outdoor Living category with their project at the Carriage House! This project was no small feat, as it required many custom elements on the part of the builders.
The Outdoor Living Category recognizes those who are able to merge the elements from the outdoors with the comforts of home in a seamless transition. After being evaluated by the IBA’s carefully-selected panel of judges, all of whom live and operate outside of the state of Indiana, Milestone Construction’s fantastic build was determined to be the best representation of craftsmanship and design in Outdoor Living, and it’s not a mystery as to why.
Milestone Construction was tasked with building out the space around the Carriage House pool, incorporating a gas fire wall that rises at the edge of the patio block, snaking around the perimeter for nearly thirty feet. The gorgeous white wall adds an elegant separation between the lake and the pool by day, and an ethereal flame to divide them by night. Accompanying the glow of the flames from the custom wall are an organic smattering of tiki torches to illuminate the path to the water below.
The leading lines of the pathway and the fire wall draw the eye back to the pool—the centerpiece of the build, and the location of the next custom piece. The pool is not only an ideal retreat for relaxation and swimming, but dancing, thanks to Milestone Construction’s innovative glass dance floor addition! This both saves space and provides an unforgettable experience for parties, allowing guests to enjoy dancing above the lapping waters of the pool.
The overall atmosphere and flexibility of this build made it a true standout to the judges, who evaluated the project on the basis of aesthetic cohesion and charm, overall craftsmanship, implementation of special or unique design choices, use of appropriate building materials, navigation of budgetary considerations, as well as any challenges or obstacles the builders may have been tasked with overcoming for completion of the project. They were so taken with the presentation and execution of all the details that they determined Milestone Construction’s Carriage House project should be awarded the best in Outdoor Living!
