T.L. Jackson – A Well Deserved Peoples’ Choice Award Winner

At the VIP Gala following the 2024 Homes on Parade event in September, T.L. Jackson’s gorgeous Wawasee lake home was determined the Peoples’ Choice for the best build in the Parade. This is a high honor – all of the homes, whether new constructions, remodels, or hard hat builds, are fantastic and showcase unparalleled craftsmanship. However, something about the design voice of T.L. Jackson’s build spoke to the attendees and ignited a deep sense of awe and intrigue that necessitated earnest celebration.

It’s not difficult to see why this home is tantalizing – even before stepping foot inside, the exterior of the home captures the eye with its European inspiration. Steep rooflines descend to meet the body of the home in seamless fashion. The exterior showcases many elements clearly referencing the angles and shape language of Victorian charm without the ornamental greeble, and a touch of French Country asymmetry, all while maintaining a modest, high-contrast color palette.

The pale brick facade at the front of the home stands out significantly from the Hardie siding and cool, chromatic grey roof. To bridge the values of dark and light, the midtones of the stone veneer allow for a natural transition and a gorgeous backdrop for the exquisite landscaping laid out by the homeowner. The final standout for the front of the home is the entry point – the half-circle arch beautifully subverts the otherwise acute and right-angles of the exterior. It perfectly marries the exterior of the home with the interior, which is decorated and adorned with similar elements.

The rear of the home faces Lake Wawasee, showcasing a breathtaking view and direct path to the pristine, white dock. This portion of the home is much more expressive, with high-reaching windows, a unique riff off of the typical mansard-style roof, and an eyebrow dormer-style lookout window. These elements initially appear as subversions from the style showcased in the front, but with the angles and singular arch, they serve as unifying elements. The covered patio is bathed in the serene off-white brick while framed by the stone veneer and contained by a matching fireplace. The patio also features a customized outdoor kitchen, perfect for family dinners beside the lake. All of these amenities expertly transition the viewer from the exterior of the home to the likewise expertly-crafted interior.

Upon entering the interior of this home, one is greeted by the cohesive design elements resplendently demonstrated on the outer portion of the home – simply softened for comfortable living. The space within features an open concept, showcasing tall ceilings and an idyllic view to the lake. The interior color palette maintains the high-contrast definition, like in the exterior, but the proportions are flipped, making the darker values stand out as a frame against an otherwise gentle, off-white and middle-brown color scheme. This allows for natural light to truly fill the space while being grounded by a darker timbre from the window frames and accent walls.

Within the great room is an entertainment center and statement fireplace which stands directly opposite a custom, gourmet kitchen and dining area. The kitchen presents specially-designed etched glass cabinets, contrasting marble countertops matching the stovetop backsplash, a deep sink positioned with a lookout to the lake, and abstract light fixtures that flood the vicinity with a gentle, warm glow.

The laundry room takes a fun spin on the color scheme, switching it up for an Italian Carrara-style checkered floor framed by off-white walls and bright white trim and cabinets. The window frames bring back the cohesion from the exterior, and balances the level of contrast in the space to unify the tile floor, washing machine and dryer, elegant walls, cabinets, and ceiling.

In the master suite, therein lays a gorgeous private balcony and spa-like bathroom, providing the perfect getaway to relax and rejuvenate within one’s own home. All six of the bathrooms have their own unique elemental feel while maintaining a few design features to unify them to the overall motif of the home. Likewise, the five bedrooms all express their own distinct voice, complimented by respective decor and bedding. In conjunction with the bathrooms and bedrooms, luxurious accessory spaces, such as the downstairs flex room, as well as the upstairs nook and versatile bonus room, offer additional recreational getaways within the home – a sanctuary for games, reading, family time, or hospitality.

T.L. Jackson’s home is crafted exceptionally – the exterior is certainly gorgeous as a standout, at times feeling strong and masculine, protected and fortified while also expressing handsome style with a dark framework and limited high-contrast color palette. The lakeside exterior seems to breathe with a still masculine, now more serene energy. The interior expresses the same strong structure, while having a comforting, feminine touch to the shift in value and color palette proportions, favoring a brighter interior with minimal dark contrast as an accent framework. The decor is complementary to the structural design of the home, providing further personality to the overall experience. There is a distinct character and voice to this build, and its stunning craftsmanship speaks for itself, exemplifying sophistication, comfort, and a connection to the beautiful Lake Wawasee.

The Peoples’ Choice Award is realized by attendees who have had the opportunity to experience all of the homes in-person. Then, these attendees are given the opportunity to inform BANCI about what they enjoyed most about the homes as well as vote on which home most captivated them. After the polling period, BANCI counts every vote and is able to determine which among each of the homes stood out most to those in attendance. While each home exemplified qualities befitting the Peoples’ Choice Award, T.L. Jackson’s Parade Home arose as a deserved winner for this award. We congratulate all those who participated in this year’s Homes on Parade, and we thank the builders and their families, the homeowners, and the attendees for making this event truly memorable. Thank you also to our Sponsors for providing much of the necessary funding and support to allow for such an auspicious occasion.

Congratulations to T.L. Jackson for earning the 2024 Homes on Parade Peoples’ Choice Award! Your hard work and tenacity through this project is clear and we at BANCI commend you for the integrity and design prowess you have demonstrated.

Please join us next year for the 2025 Homes on Parade! We are currently open for registration for new builds, remodels, and hard hat constructions this upcoming year. Let us help make your work known to our community!
